After much waiting, we are pleased to announce that on Monday 8th February, the diggers will be moving onto the Green and beginning the initial preparatory works on the Village Green labyrinth project. Please do come along on the 8th if you are able as we hope to begin a timeline series of photos from the beginning to completion of the project. As soon as we have any accurate on the day timings we will get them posted on website.
Saturday 5th March - Volunteers are encouraged to gather on the Green at the site of the labyrinth anytime from 10am, to help spread the topsoil which needs to be prepared for grass seed sowing a key part of the projects success. If you are looking for something less energetic then we will also be doing our usual clearing of invasive ash saplings, and for those with young families our Countryside Ranger, Mr Andrew McGuinness will also be showing how to make a Bird box, to be hung either on the village green or back home in your on garden. All of these events will of course be sandwiched between Homemade Soup & Cakes under the protection of our Event Shelter Kitchen.
In June, we hope to organise another Wildflower Walk, hosted by Andrew McGuinness, who will spend approx 2 hours walking the Green and introducing us to the flora and fauna around us that we may not always be aware of.
Our Annual Bat Walk event is scheduled for August and later in September we will be holding our annual Hay Raking event on the Village Green.
For more information on any of the above events please do contact our Village Green Coordinators Clive & Catherine Moxham by email on themoxhams3@btinternet.com or via the Village Green facebook page.
Look forward to working with you all again inmailto:themoxhams3@btinternet.com 2016
